With increase in steric factor, what happens to the basicity of amines ??
Steric factor decreases the basicity because of less hydration enthalpy of sterically hindered salts.
Big bulky ammonium salts formed after accepting H + ions are less stable in the aqueous solution as we know that there is more hydration if the size is smaller
The greater the size of the ion,lesser will be the hydration and the less stabilized is the ion and hence less basicity.
