Ok so I have this problem on my Chemistry homework. it states.

1.00 moles of nitrogen gas has a mass of 28.02g. What is the volume of 50.0g of nitrogen gas at STP?

I have the formula to work it out. I just don't know how to figure out how many moles 50.0g of nitrogen gas is.

Any ideas?

uma

Number of moles = mass/ molar mass
now mass =50.0 g
molar mass =28.02 g
just plug in these values
At STP
T = 273K
P = 1atm
V =?
n = 50/ 28.02
plug in these values in the ideal gas equation
PV = nRT
V = nRT/P
R = 0.0821Latm/mol.K

ok thanks. I ended up with v=39.9L. pretty sure thats right so thank you for the help.
