uma

Temporary hardness of water is due to calcium hydrogen carbonate and magnesium hydrogen carbonate,

They can be easily removed by heating and precipitating them as magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate which can be easily filtered out.

However, this precipitation can be accelerated by using line so when lime is added in hard water with temporary hardness lime reacts with calcium hydrogen carbonate to form calcium carbonate which is insoluble and precipitate out this can be easily filtered off.
