Title: Balancing
Post by: KLynn712 on October 09, 2011, 11:10:49 PM
Iron reacts with oxygen to produce iron (III) oxide
____Fe + ____O2---> ____ Fe2O3
If 3.2 moles of Fe react with excess O2, how many moles of Fe2O3 can be formed?

**I balanced this as 4 Fe + 3 O2---> 2Fe2O3  Is that right?

yes your equation is balanced

you know from the equation
4 moles of Fe =  2 moles of Fe2O3
so start with given moles of Fe and change them into mole of Fe2O3 using molar ratio from the balanced equation
3.2 moles of Fe X 2moles of Fe2O3 / 4 moles of Fe
